To make my chess board, I based it off real chess pieces I found online, combining different aspects of different pieces. I started with a cylinder for most of them and manipulated them from there. I would then round the objects out to finalize them.

Maya- Still Life
I made the pear in class by using the revolve tool and I used the same process for the glass. For the plate and table, I manipulated polygons.
Maya- City
I made each building in a variety of ways. But basically, for most of them I would start with a cube and manipulate the faces and edges to create unique architecture. I also made use of the extrude tool.

2nd Editorial Piece
For my second attempt at my editorial, I uses an entirely different approach. I started with a blank canvas and took a picture of duct tape and placed it onto the white background. I used duct tape because duct tape can be used to tape a mouth shut and keep the quiet. I then used brushes that I downloaded to created blood and hair. I used the same text as I did in my first editorial but placed them differently so they fit more appropriately.
Editorial
This is my editorial piece that I created by starting a background I composed. The background was made my combining textures I found around online. I also added in shadows especially around the edges. I then used a picture of a face that I stripped down the color and added new colors and texture. I also added filters to the face and eyes. Then I erased out areas. Finally I added text to the piece.

Personal Narrative
In order to create my personal narrative, I started with a photo of myself that I had taken while in San Francisco. I really liked the graffiti wall and wanted to use that as my background. I also thought my facial expression and me holding my sketchbook I used were also appropriate for the subject of my narrative. Next I took two images from online of the city and layered them on top and turned down the opacity. I also downloaded a textured background to use for the text. To finish my piece off, I used textures brushes to create a grunge border around the whole piece.

Movie Poster
In order to create this movie poster, I stated by taking a picture that resembled the angle and lighting of the original photo. I then spent a lot of time with image adjustments (color balance, contract, exposure, etc.). I also tried to blend the edges of my face as effectively as possible. Other tools I used included the dodge/burn tool to help with lighting issues.

Digital Nation: Some Thoughts
One of the issues addressed by the documentary are the concerns about information overload and multitasking. The program opens with the pessimistic note with interviews and survey data suggesting that digital multitasking strains attention spans, especially among students. Being a student in college when seeing this film, it's something that I can easily relate. With so much technology available, I feel like there is a new inevitable need to multitask. And I can't say that is always the best solution to our bust lives. There may be times where I feel like I truly am getting more done at once, but moreover it seems like I'm being more distracted than accomplishing tasks.
Another big point was the role of computers and digital technology in education & learning and how students can benefit from them. The film seems to touch on how important is is for educators accept the reality of digital technology in the lives of students and find ways to make it work for them. In a way, I agree that this is a way to make teaching and learning more interactive and modern. I feel that when students can relate to the material more, it is more likely to stick. Although, on the contrary, as stated above the availability of communication and technology also leads to distracted and strayed focus. It can be difficult to find a medium sometimes.
Lastly, it shows the impact of virtual reality and virtual worlds on real-world life and culture. It talked about the strain on family togetherness and how kids don't seem to read anymore. But I feel that in a away, this is just the way that society is changing. Most of the time change is inevitable and comes along with advances and new discoveries. That is just how the world works. We cannot expect society to stay the same. With all new advancements there will be some gain and some loss, and we must accept it.

Contrasting Personalities
To create the apprehensive image, I wanted to pose as if I were thinking about something. In this case, I am thinking of the future and anxious thought, which I do often. I added the brick wall in the background because I often am afraid of hitting a wall in the near future and it's a reason for my apprehensive personality. The harsh contrast and lack of detail and color were all effects that I used to try and create a harsher, anxious tone.
For the lively part of my identity, I wanted it to show a more fun and playful side of me. I put in a fun, colorful background to reflect the "lively" personality. I slightly posterized my face because it reminds me of the creative aspect of myself which has a lot to do with being lively. I wanted to brighten my face and add a fun text as well.

Image Conversions
In order to make the final image, I adjusted the colors on the original image by increasing the saturation. I then posterized the photo and selected a few colors and changed them. I also used the lasso tool to select only the background and decreased the vibrancy and saturation so the flower would stand out more. Then I increased the canvas size, made it the dark green and added in the text.
To make the image I had to duplicate the image and add the mosaic filter onto one of the images. I increase the cell size from there. Then I erased the mosaic layer in the areas I didn't want cells. I then posterized the back layer and increased the vibrancy. Lastly, I added text and curved it.
For this image, I used the lasso tool to select the stacked cans and duplicated the part twice. I then colored one of them red and one white and arranged them accordingly. I then increased the saturation on the background and altered the colors. I downloaded the Coca-Cola font and added in the text. For the text, I added an outline to it, a drop shadow, and embossed it.
